Treasure Madness - How to Deal With New Way to Send Healthkits

Sat May 1 11:19:56 2010

Several solutions to make adaptation to the new way to send health kits easier.

Recently, a new change was made to Treasure Madness with regard to sending health kits to your team mates. As always, the change has made a lot of people confused, lost and unhappy. In this post I'll try to clear out much of that confusion and share with you tips and tricks that I've known before or learned in the forum after the change was rolled out.

Confusion: I don't want to spam my friends

There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding that when you post a health kit request, it does NOT get posted to the walls of all your friends - just yours. It would show up in the news feed of all your friends, but I'm about to show you how to fix that...

I don't want my friends to know I'm addicted to Treasure Madness

There are quite a few posts on the forum where people simply don't want their non-Treasure-Madness-playing friends to know just how much they play TM. It's understandable and there's a solution to that.

Since I already have a health kit at this time, I'll show you the method on my wishlist post, but it's absolutely the same for health kits.

Once you click on "ask for a health kit" button, a Facebook dialog asking you to publish will pop up. Before clicking on "Publish it", click on the "lock" icon and then select "Customize":

In the next pop-up, in the section "Make it visible to", select "Specific people" and either enter the names of the people whom you want to see your request or enter the name of your Treasure Madness friends list. If you don't know how to make such a list, just google for it:

After you select the right people or list, simply click "Save settings" and then publish your post - only the people you've selected will see it.

I'm requesting kits, but my requests don't show up on my wall

If you're requesting a health kit, but your request do not show up on your Facebook wall, then it's likely that at some point in time you've blocked TM from posting on your wall.

Note: allowing TM to post on your wall will NOT allow it to do so automatically. You'll still have to click "Publish" for every post; so don't worry, your wall will not get spammed.

To unblock TM from posting on your wall, go to "Account" -> "Application Settings":

On the next page, find Treasure Madness and click "Edit settings":

Now, go to "Additional Permissions" tab and make sure that "Publish recent activity..." checkbox is checked:

You're done.

How Can I Send Health Kits

If you're wondering how in the world you're to send health kits now and how people will send them to you, the answer is Facebook News Feed. You would need to catch the health kit request in your news feed and click the "Send health kit" link. Now, this can be a major problem, unless you only have a handful of friends.

Whilst there is a way to create a filter for many of the applications so that only they will appear in your post, for some reason it doesn't work for Treasure Madness. Albeit unperfect, but still usable is an app called Freeder; go ahead and install it if you want to proceed with this.

I'll admit, I could not make the app work as advertised; that being "Filter by app: Click the app name to see all feeds by that app". However, it's still quite usable. Look at all those rectangular areas with app selections. Find a request for a health kit, check off "Like" and click "Collect":

The reason for checking off the "Like" is so when Freeder refreshes itself (it does so automatically) the kits that you've already sent will be highlighted:

That's all there is to it.
