Printer Sharing on Windows Network
Host Setup (computer with printer hooked up to it)
Network
Go to: Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections
You should see your LAN connection there. Right click on it.
In section "This connection uses the following items" make sure the File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks item is there and checked.
If it's not there do the following:
- Click on Install...
- Select Service and click Add...
- There should be an item File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks, select it and install it.

Printer
Go to: Start -> Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes
- Right click on your printer and select Sharing...
- Click on If you understand security risks blah blah blah click here.
- Choose Just enable printer sharing and click OK
- In the Sharing tab, select share this printer and enter an appropriate name for it and click OK
Now look on your printer icon, it should have a hand icon on it.

Client setup (computer that wants to use printer over the network)
Network
Go to: Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections
You should see your LAN connection there. Right click on it.
In section "This connection uses the following items" make sure the Client for Microsoft Networks item is there and checked.
If it's not there do the following:
- Click on Install...
- Select Client and click Add...
- There should be an item Client for Microsoft Networks, select it and install it.

Printer
Go to: Start -> Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes
- Right click anywhere in the window.
- Click on Add printer
- Click Next
- Choose A network printer blah blah blah and click Next
- In Printer field type the printer name you created in host printer setup then browser for your printer or your host computer in that list below. Click Next. Don't know what should be after that, don't have a printer.
Firewall
If it still doesn't work, maybe your firewall is the cause.
Go to: Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections ->
You should see your LAN connection there. Right click on it, click Advanced tab, click Settings and disable firewall.
