Just a simple dinner...

A bag of millet grain

I've made this quick and simple plate for my dinner tonight, and decided to post it. You'll be needing grain called "Millet". I have never seen it in North American stores, so you might need to drop by to a Polish, Ukrainian or Russian stores to get it - just say you want "psheno".

Ingredients

Millet bag

  • Some beef - I barely had any left, just a few pieces.
  • 1/4 of a cup of millet
  • 1 packet of gravy mix
  • 2 handfuls of grated cheese
  • 1 table spoon of red wine vinegar
  • About 40-50 grams of butter
  • Salt and spices to taste

Preparation

Beef cooking

Beef with millet - ready for gravy

Fill a frying pan with water. Place beef and millet into it and cook. Millet will absorb a lot of water, so once you notice that you no longer have to add any more, add the vinegar, salt and spices to taste.

Once the beef is fully cooked, fill the frying pan with water to the top, and add gravy mix and butter. Stir and bring to boil, then take off the heat.

Serve as a soup. I usually also have some bread to go along with soups.

Final Product

Here's my dinner for tonight: Finished zMillet
