Recipe - Zof-Style Mac'n'Cheese

An alternate version of a popular plate

We won't be making anything fancy here. This is a great quickie dinner plate that is quite common to taste, yet with an extra kick. Preparation takes 5 to 15 minutes, depending on which type pasta you choose.

Ingredients

My choice of pasta and a Knorr cube

  • Your favorite pasta - use about 60% of what you'd normally use for a pasta dinner as our cheese and butter make you full fast.
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Knorr cube to your taste - alternatively, if you have chicken broth, it's great for this kind of stuff.
  • 2 handfuls of grated cheese
  • About 50g of butter

Preparation

Pasta cooking in broth

Finished pasta with cheese - no egg yet

Grab a frying pan, fill it with water and put the cube in it, or use your broth. Cook your pasta/macaroni/whatever until it's ready, adding more water if needed.

Drain excess water if there is any in the pan. Add butter and fry the pasta until it is golden brown.

The order of the next two steps depends on how you like your cheese. If you like it soft and chewy, fry the egg first and then take the plate off the heat and add chese. Otherwise, add the cheese first, then the egg and fry the egg until it's ready. The cheese will grill a bit.

That's all there is to it!

Final Product
